71°10’21”

Or better known as Nordkapp, the northernmost point of Europe….Day 6. But first let’s catch up from din dins last night

Starters was a herb roasted stock fish- which essentially is unsalted cod. Main course was a baked arctic char, with creamed kale and potato. Very tasty, a mild fish but was superbly cooked. Finally desert was a yoghurt cake with a berry coulis and cream, which was ok.

There is no entertainment or shows on the boat, so down time  is about entertaining yourself. Went out on deck for a while, but it was overcast and chilly. So early to bed for a good read, a bit of blogging and some Faceebook. The floods and damage back home are horrifying to see. So lucky that my loved ones are all safe, but really feel for those sho have lost loved ones and who have suffered loss. It seems like the worst is not over. I even sent an email to Aircare Carpark to check if Miss Lex is fine. Seems all good for now. Nature is so powerful.

This morning was oats morning for me, followed by the now daily soft boiled again. Today, I asked the chef how he obtains perfection day after day. The eggs are steamed at 100° for 7 minutes.

We arrived in Honningsvag just after 11am and the tour buses picked us up for our excursion to the Nordkapp (Noth Cape), which is the northern most point of Europe at 71°10’21”. The drive up was less hair raising than my last time here. The weather was clear, although snow had fallen in the area overnight. This time we also travelled in the light, so I could see more. Some harsh scenery along the way. Our time on top of the mountain at the marker was great. Not too many tourists, so with a bit of patience, managed to get some awesome pics with no one in them. Again, I have to mention that it wa freezing cold! Sunset as ever was special even if it was at 12.54pm.

i saw much more this trip. Could even see the water and the cliffs. When I was here in January 2012, there was a blizzard and it was pitch dark, so I saw nothing else. Took a walk behind the kiosk area to a display crated by a child from each continent. Basically a drawing carved into big wooden spheres. Also a statue of a mother and child, that was caught in front of the setting sun. So some special pic opportunities, We headed back down and reboarded the boat at about 3pm and set sail soon after.

We were called onto deck to see a light display on the rocks, but it was a bit dismal. No sooner had we gotten changed, again….then the northern lights put in a brief appearance. So make that 4 kit changes for the day so far and its only now 6pm. Nearly time for dinner.

Then there is a pic especially for my brother! He asked about the parties on board – there are none. So I decided to pose and set up a pic to explain the party vibe. His comments are not publishable on this open forum. I had a good chuckle anyway. Well spotted to Jen, Tyla and Kaylee who noticed that there is no wool on the needles. No Mom, your daughter has not been abducted by aliens…

And finally the fun ones….

  1. Liebs I would starve to death with all those fish dinners. I too saw no wool on the needles but stupid me, I thought maybe you were trying to cast on 😜.. we had a big storm this evening and sadly with a lot of hail. So appreciated calls from both Keith and Gail to see if we were ok. Big mop up at both kitchen door and front door because of driving wind. Garage floor also very wet. But no serious problems. All quiet now. Funny enough Yesterday I had thought of Miss Lex. Glad to know alls good there. Your photos are fabulous. I love the lady and child. So glad you were able to see more this time round. I have saved all the photos. Did Kaylee tell you that her braces come off on the 2nd December. So happy for her.
Sleep tight. Lots of love from both of us. 😘😘😘

    • Joh, this is scary! If you not happy with drainage we must get the body corporate to put trenches in. Thrilled to hear about braces. There are alternatives to fish, so you would have options, lol. Keith and Gail are awesome as usual. Glad all ok though. Another great day, time for bed
